The fact that the system boots from cdrom and goes through the installation is a good indicator that your hardware is working well. One gotcha that comes to mind when installing on older systems is a limit on the size of the root filesystem. The limits for the root filesystem are
PROM versions 1.0-2.5: 1GB
PROM versions 2.6-2.99: 2GB
you can get the prom revision at the ok prompt by running the command
banner
There should not be a limit regarding which scsi id you are booting from, id's 0-6 can all be booted from in this system.
