acpid - Advanced Configuration and Power Interface event daemon
arptables_jf - arp packet filter daemon
auditd - This starts the Linux Auditing System Daemon, which collects security related events in a dedicated audit log. If this daemon is turned off, audit events will be sent to syslog.
autofs - Auto Mount Network File System Management Daemon
avahi-daemon - This is a daemon which runs on client machines to perform Zeroconf service discovery on a network. avahi-daemon must be running on systems that use Avahi for service discovery. Avahi-daemon should not be running otherwise.
avahi-dnsconfd - avahi-dnsconfd connects to a running avahi-daemon and runs the script /etc/avahi/dnsconf.action for each unicast DNS server that is announced on the local LAN. This is useful for configuring unicast DNS servers in a DHCP-like fashion with mDNS.
bluetooth - Bluetooth device management
conman - The ConMan daemon is used for console management
cpuspeed - user-space cpu frequency scaling program
crond - daemon to execute scheduled commands
cups -Common UNIX Printing System.
firstboot - Firstboot is a druid style program that runs on the first time a machine is booted after install.
haldaemon - This is a daemon for collecting and maintaing information about hardware from several sources. See http://www.freedesktop.org/Software/hal
hidd - Bluetooth Human Interface Device Daemon.
hplip - Start/stop script for HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP)
ip6tables - Packet filter management Daemon ( IPV6 )
iptables - Packet filter management Daemon ( IPV4 )
irqbalance - distribute hardware interrupts across processors on a multiprocessor system

mdmonitor - SoftRaid Monitor and Management Daemon
messagebus - This is a daemon which broadcasts notifications of system events and other messages. See http://www.freedesktop.org/software/dbus/
microcode_ctl - microcode utility for Intel IA32 processors
netconsole - This loads the netconsole module with the configured parameters.
netfs - Network File System Management Daemon
network - Activates/Deactivates all network interfaces configured to start at boot time.
nfslock - NFS is a popular protocol for file sharing across TCP/IP networks. This service provides NFS file locking functionality
ntpd - Network Time Protocol Management Daemon
pcscd - PC/SC smart card Management Daemon
portmap - RPC Connection Port Mapping System
rawdevices - Rawdevices Management Daemon
readahead_early - This service causes the programs used during startup to be loaded into memory before they are needed, thus improving startup performance
readahead_later - This service causes the programs used during startup to be loaded into memory before they are needed, thus improving startup performance
restorecond - restorecond uses inotify to look for creation of new files listed in the /etc/selinux/restorecond.conf file, and restores the correct security context.
rhnsd - RHN Service Daemon
rpcgssd - Starts user-level daemon that manages RPCSEC GSS contexts for the NFSv4 client.
rpcidmapd - Starts user-level daemon for NFSv4 that maps user names to UID and GID numbers
sendmail - SMTP Management Daemon
setroubleshoot - This starts the SELinux Troubleshooting Daemon

wdaemon - helps X.org to support Wacom tablets hotplugging by creating permanent uinput devices that may be feeded by real tablets events while the hardware is present
xfs - Starts and stops the X Font Server at boot time and shutdown. It also takes care of (re-)generating font lists.
xinetd - xinetd is a powerful replacement for inetd. xinetd has access control mechanisms, extensive logging capabilities, the ability to make services available based on time, and can place limits on the number of servers that can be started, among other things.
yum-updatesd - RHN(yum) Service Daemon
