The teller of the story is a girl and she is eight years old.

She has a secret that she has a magical power on her finger.

When she is angry, she feels hot and see red and then a strange magic would shot forward where the finger points.

One day she answered wrong about spelling cat. She said 'K-a-t' for cat. The teacher old Mrs. Winter said to her 'You are a stupid little girl'.

Then she got cross, saw red, and she put the Magic Finger on Mrs. Winter. 

When the magic worked, whiskers began to grow on Mrs. Winter's face just like cat. and the ears and tails were also growing on her.

The children in the class began to laugh like mad, but that time Mrs. Winter didn't know why.

We'll never know what happened to her after that because she just said Mrs. Winter never will be all right.

She don't know how it works and why she had the power, so even she can not explain the power.

But it always happened when she got corss and she saw red. and then she felt tingling on her tip of the forefinger.

And all of a sudden something like flash or electric came of her to the place where the finger pointed.

And now here is the story of Greggs family. Something very funny happened to this family.

The Greggs were living the farm next to her. There were Mr. and Mrs.Gregg and their two children Philip and William.

Sometimes she went over to the farm and play with them.

Phlip and she are same eight years old and William is eleven.

Mr.Gregg and his two sons loved so much to go hunting animals. Every saturday morning they took their guns and went off to forest to hunt.

They all had their own gun even Philip.

She couldn't understand hunting and even hated it. So she used to try to stop them not to hunt just for fun but they only laughed at her.

Then one Saturday morning, she saw they coming out of the woods carrying lovely young deer.

That made her so angry that she shouted at them. They boys laughed at her and Mr.Gregg told her to mind your own P's and Q's.

When she heard that, she saw red. and then she couldn't stop herself to put the magic finger on them all. It happened all by itselft so she couldn't help it.

The very same day they went to hunting once again. They were going to hunt wild ducks.

They shot the first shot they got ten ducks. and in the next shot they got another six. They got excited and there was a third chance to got more ducks.

This time, four ducks were very slow and flying so low that it seemed to easy to get them.

But strangely no ducks fell down. And to their suprise, the ducks were flying back to their guns.

They all shot but once again they all missed. It was so strange to miss them.

So they decided to go home with sixteen ducks and go home. But the four ducks followed them along until they got into their home.

Late that night, after Philip and William went to bed, Mr. Gregg found the four ducks were still flying around his house. He was now quite afraid of the ducks.

The next day in the morning, Mr. Gregg woke up and he found he can't find his hand to see his watch. His both hands didn't come out. 

He sat up and he found his two arms were gone and two wings were out there. and also all of his family had wings.

Mr. and Mrs. Gregg got worried but their children were very excited and flied out to the window.

Mr. and Mrs. Gregg were so suprised that they chased their children to got them.

They soon caught up with their children and they had fun flying all together for a minuite.

But soon after, they found four duck-like-men went into their house. They look like wild duck but they had hands and feet like human.

They walked into the house and shut the door. They had taken Greggs' house.

They were worried. They could have eaten by cats and foxes at night. Mr. Gregg had an idea of building their nest.

Building nest was tough work but finally they manage to build their nest. They exausted and they wanted to have some food.

But they don't want to eat worms or something. They decided eat some apples near the house, but it was not easy to pecking the apples hanging in the trees.

Everytime they peck the apples, it just pushed away. They only had a few bites and had to back to the nest when it got darker.

At that time, the girl who had magic finger called Philip but Wild ducks were there. Duck picked up the phone and just say 'Quack-Quack'.

So the girl realized that the magic worked and the famiy got into trouble.

That night, wind blew wildly and rain poured that Greggs couldn't sleep at all. Furthermore they found four ducks were aiming guns at them.

Mr. Gregg begged them not to shoot.

The Ducks said him to he always hunt them and he shot their children yesterday. 

He begged and promissed that he will never hunt again any other animals and throw the gun away.

Ducks forgave them and the magic was broken they changed into their original form.

Their wings had gone and their hands were back.

When the girl hurried into Gregg's farm, she saw that Mr.Gregg was breaking his guns into pieces and Mrs. Gregg was placing beautiful flowers on the graves of ducklings. And Philip and William are feeding bird on the yard.They are feeding father's best barley to the birds.

Mr. Gregg decided to change his name to Egg. He thanked to his firend ducks. 

And there was a nest on top of the tree that they had built yesterday. Whenever they see the nest, they would always remember the ducks and animal's life.

Suddenly a sound of gun shooting came from the lake in the woods. Mr. Egg said Jim Cooper's whole family are hunting animals.

The girl who had a magic finger started to see red and felt her forefinger tingling. She ran toward the lake as fast as she could.

And she shouted back at Mr. Egg to they will be nest in the trees tonight.
